Frequently Asked Questions
Here are a few questions I get frequently - if this list does not answer your questions please contact me!
Do you take my insurance?
I’m currently not on any insurance panels, so I am considered “Out of Network.” I would advise you to contact your insurance provider to determine reimbursement rates for Out of Network providers. I can provide you with a super bill, which you submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
How often will we meet?
I believe weekly therapy is a good place to start. Consistency is very important, so I requests clients make every attempt for consistent weekly sessions. As progress is made, we can evaluate frequency of sessions and reduce to every other week or monthly as we plan on closing.
What are your areas of expertise?
I have worked with a wide range of mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, relationships, parenting, and more. If you’re curious about a specific mental health, emotional, or life challenge, reach out and schedule a free consultation to see if this is an area I can help with.
Is therapy “worth it” for Anxiety, Depression or Life Transitions? Will I feel Better?
Therapy is not a miracle pill, its a process and because of each unique set of circumstances, outcomes can differ. I have seen tremendous growth, relief and improved wellbeing over the years, and its these outcomes that keep me passionate about offering individual therapy to my community in the central coast and california.
What is the cost per session?
My fee is $165 per session. See above regarding insurance reimbursement options.
**No Surprises Act and Good Faith Estimate: You are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of total costs, which, upon request, I will determine by multiplying the session fee by the likely number of sessions you may need in the next 12 months. This is simply an estimate- you may always end treatment at any time. For full text on this notice, click here.
What if I don’t know what to say?
THAT’S OK! I have exercises (including mindfulness and guided imagery) that can help in going deeper and bringing forth underlying feelings and ideas to discuss and process toward healing. Somatic approaches and techniques can help with this, too.
What is somatic Therapy?
“Somatic” means “relating to the body” and in my individual therapy practice, that means I include information from your body in treatment. We might explore areas of tension, posture, breath, or movement patterns that arise with emotions, memories or thoughts.
You can Read More about my somatic approach Here.
What if I can’t make it? What is your cancellation policy?
No problem, life happens. While consistency is important, I understand that your schedule may change. I request a 24 hour notification if you need to cancel your sessions. Notification under 24 hours or not showing up to an appointment will result in a charge of the full fee of the session. This is not to be punitive, but to support in your dedication to yourself, practice of open communication, maintain healthy relationship and to protect the schedule for all involved. We can make efforts to reschedule for that week or choose to cancel.
